I'm so sorry for your loss of Peanut. I can identify..I found this site after I had to put my beloved German Shepherd, Ramius, to sleep 2 weeks ago.
As soon as I saw Peanut's picture, memories flooded back of my squirrel, Juliet. She, like Peanut, fell out of a tree when she was a newborn. As a 14 year old (I'm now 39), I hand fed her, and raised her. She was an affectionate and gentle pet, and we all adored her.
My funniest memory of her is when she dove from the top of the refridgerator into an open carton of chocolate peanut butter ice cream, and then tracked chocolatey pawprints across the kitchen table.
Years after she had died, while repotting a plant, my mom found a large stash of nuts Juliet had buried. We cried all over again. It's amazing how such little creatures can leave such a large hole in our hearts when they leave us. But, despite all of the heartbreak, I wouldn't trade any of the memories...Juliet was well worth the tears, just as Peanut was. Thank you for your story.

Sorry for your loss. It is a very sad moment when you lose a pet. A sadness that you can only know until it happens to yourself with a pet of your own!
My cat ran away and I cried for three days, I tried to forget but I could not. Then on my daughters birthday he came walking in my yard like he was never gone.
I cried again as I grabbed him! I was so relieved he was okay. So I know it hurts a lot!!!

What a wonderful person you are to have saved the little squirrel from certain death, not many people would have done that. I know she loved you very much and had a much better life with you and your family, she will be up in the fields at Rainbow Bridge playing with all the other squirrels and fur babies that have passed from their loving families, god only lent them to us for a while and now he called them home to make someone else happy for a while too.
I'm sure Peanut looks down and smiles at you, be strong,
