'Jennifer & Jessie'
About Jessie
Jessie, our rescue brindle Pug.
When did you lose Jessie?
She passed away on July 12 @ 4pm.
At which stage of pet loss grief do you feel you are currently at? Or how are you feeling right now?
Or how are you feeling right now?: My heart is still broken. I'm so sad without her. I still have my 3 dogs and 2 cats and I'm so grateful for them, but my bond with with special little pug was beyond what I thought was possible.
Jennifer and Jessie's Story so far
We rescued Jessie and Lola in January of 2011. They were two brindle Pugs that were perfectly mannered and sweetest dogs you could ever meet. They loved each other so much, and could only be adopted together. They integrated well with our other two dogs and two cats. They quickly became part of the family.
Jessie claimed me for her own. She would always sit on my lap or curled up against me. She was so important at a bad point in my life. Her illness was sudden. I had just let the dogs out in the yard for their last potty session. After being out for a few minutes, she started throwing and collapsed.
I took her to the emergency vet and they were able to get her stable but not 100%. I picked her up in the morning and took her to the vet to continue treatment. She seemed to get better in the morning, and then had another episode late in the afternoon. They tried to save her, but were unable to do so.
I didn't get to say goodbye and I wasn't with her at the end. I feel terrible and wish I could have been with her. I wish I could have done more. I miss her terribly, and I'm sure Lola, her sister, as well as the other animals miss her.
