Your Pet Tributes
'Stella'
The morning yawn,
the sleepy eyes,
your rumble down the steps.
Your eager bark
and intense gaze,
your paw upon my breath.
The empty bowl
and lonely house,
sit quietly out back.
The days are long
and quiet now,
the heart torn from our pack.
I play with toys
that once were chased
by your enchanting bark.
Your pain is gone
but your shed fur,
still clumps along the floor.
Your collar now
sits hastily
atop the dresser drawer,
I looked outside
And closed my eyes,
wished it all a dream.
And round the corner you came once more,
Bounding toward the door.
But my eyes, they opened
And there stood the naked yard
The house, the bowl, and the tree.
So I took a chair and sat
Beneath your shady tree.
I sat and peeled an orange
And ate your portion too.
And now I sit
As you once sat
Seated right next to you.
