I've often wondered how I will feel by the time the first year ends (I lost my cat Tish about 2 months ago) Will the pain be the same? Will I be able to think about her without tears?

Your poem is beautiful.
It touches me deeply because my cat Mitsou died in my arms too, 9 years ago. For a while I seemed to be OK, but the passing of my Mom opened that wound again which had never really healed I guess.
