I am very sorry for your loss Karen. It will take some time before you can function again in the way you were used to.
I had to put to rest my 19 year old cat, Tish. It was back in February. I have found that now my life is divided into "before and after". It's like my life has been put into 2 segments, before she passed away and then after. For example, when I go somewhere I might say to myself..."the last time I was here, Tish was still with us". It was especially early on, a very painful feeling.
I have done a lot of crying in public over her, like when I have to go to the vet to pick up medication for one of my other cats, it's where we said goodbye to her. It's still very hard for me to talk about her without tears, but I'm more in control now than I was right after she passed.
