I am very sorry of your loss, Jenny and boyfriend too. The images right now are very painful, but in time your memory will heal. In another post you made, you believed your other dogs did this to Nikki. My beloved beautiful lab, Spike, 2 yrs before he passed, killed my sister's puppy. Not instantly. The puppy was maimed. It was horrible. Everything happened so fast. The puppy went under Spike's belly and sniffed his genitals and Spike went for his jugular. I pryed him off and rushed the puppy to the vet. My sister and brother-in-law made difficult descision to put their puppy down.
For days I couldn't even look at Spike. I couldn't believe my sweet dog would do such a thing. But had to keep in mind, he was a dog and dogs get territorial. I even asked the Vet, and he said it was normal for Spike's reaction. Sadly, it happens. Here at Pet Loss Matters there was 2 big dogs and a cat belong in the same family and the dogs attacked/killed the cat.
Your other dog peeing on Nikkie spot might have been their way of being territorial. Maybe protecting it. Perhaps check with your Vet. But I like your idea to build a fire pit in honor of Nikki.
Of course I forgave Spike. He sensed my painful mood. He knew he did wrong.
You will heal...and smile at the good times you and Nikkie shared. You will always be together in heart and soul..
