I am so sorry for the loss of Ellie Mae. She was and is truly beautiful.
Time seems to stand still in a way when we lose them but at the same time, it moves so rapidly that we don't realize that time has passed.
We lost our best, best friend, Kane on May 29th of this year and though it is just one month, it feels like years and moments at the same time. Every step we took and every thought was about him. It is hard to adjust after almost 9.5 years. He filled every inch of our lives and our home, as I'm sure she did and adjusting is incredibly painful. I cry every night as my husband and I go through the normal life rituals...that he was such a part of.
Our vet had been with him from 8 weeks old when we brought him home so I can relate to your life with Ellie. He was a Dobie and needed weekly tapings when he was little so she was very close with him. He suffered from a liver condition that was diagnosed in 2007 and the times were very hard so we (including our vet) spent many hours in worry and wait. But though he was not expected to survive, he did...our babies are with us as long as they can be and somehow, seem to know when its ok to go.
My thoughts are with you. Keep the memories close, they are like jewels. Our babies taught us many lessons. I don't know what I would l have done without him.
