This is the story of my boyfriend, Byron, and I and our daughter - a rat named Bella. The way we got her, we feel like it was destiny. We had gone shopping for clothes, but when we got to the shopping center, something drew us to the pet store next door. Out of all the rats, this beautiful white and beige one just stood out. She just kept looking at us when all the others gave us no notice. We took her home and fell instantly in love. She was so loving and docile. She was a snuggler, a kisser, and just a big attention/love hound!
My story starts last night - April 2nd 2012. We found our baby dead -s he had died in her sleep at the ripe age (for a rat)of 4. We were devastated. Although we were told the life span of a rat was 3-5 years - she just seemed like she would live forever. We broke down. Losing her was like losing a child. I couldn't compose myself - my heart was broken, as was Byron's. We buried her with flowers, said our goodbyes and held each other and cried. We went back home and decided to try and sleep.
Before I continue my story, there's a few things you must know about Bella. Whenever Byron and I would hug, snuggle, kiss, etc. Bella would come RUNNING from wherever she was and worm her way between the 2 of us! If we were kissing - she would, literally, try to join in! She was so funny! Every night Byron and I would say our I love you's to each other and to Bell's and she would always sniff in response.
Well last night, we turned off the t.v., the lights and crawled into bed. We snuggled close, both of us facing the wall. Byron said I love you and I said I love you too. Literally, right after I said that, we noticed our room light up. We both rolled over and noticed that the light in our room was on. This light is one of those you click once to turn on, once to turn off, etc. There was no clicking noise - just a sudden brightness in our room. This light has NEVER done this before.
I KNEW this was our baby, Bella, saying she loved us too and that she was okay. I do believe our babies, our pets, DO go to Heaven and that one day, we WILL be reunited with them!
